I'd like to thank everyone who worked so hard to make this event possible. I know it is a huge undertaking but it's so worthwhile. I'm sure the participants enjoyed it and learned a lot from it. Congratulations to all of them!
Every year, the Braille Institute hosts an exciting competition for children learning braille. It is called the Braille Challenge and the final event took place last weekend, on June 17.

I'm so grateful for the intelligent, driven people working to improve access to braille! Good luck to all of them as they continue to refine and improve their designs.
This week we are learning about people who need braille and may not be able to get it. It's hard to think about, but it's important to realize that access to braille shouldn't be taken for granted. The people we focus on today were able to get the braille they needed.
Sometimes it takes a while to get braille in place. It can be hard to access and there is usually cost involved. However, it's worth it to keep trying!
