Every month we celebrate people connected with vision loss. We have two special people today.
The first person I want to wish Happy Birthday is my dear grandma! She was born on July 26. She was kind enough to give me her perspective on losing vision due to Age Related Macular Degeneration. You can read what she had to say here.
My grandma is a tough act to follow, but I think you'll enjoy hearing about the other person we want to celebrate this month.
Alec Templeton was born on July 4, 1909 (there is some dispute whether it was 1909 or 1910). He was blind from birth, and had perfect pitch. He became a legendary performer in the 1930s through the 1950s. He had a radio show, and would memorize the scripts. He was a jazz musician and I found a few videos on YouTube that you might enjoy.
Happy birthday to both of you! To submit someone for birthday greetings, fill out our form here.
