ATIA stands for Assistive Technology Industry Association. According to their website, "The Assistive Technology Industry Association (ATIA) is a not-for-profit membership organization of manufacturers, sellers and providers of technology-based assistive devices and/or services. The mission of ATIA is to serve as the collective voice of the assistive technology industry association so that the best products and services are delivered to people with disabilities" (www.atia.org).
They have a yearly conference in Orlando, Florida, which I was lucky enough to attend. Here are their statistics from that conference (again from www.atia.org):
ATIA 2015 By the Numbers
2,600+ attendees from 30+ countries
10% of attendees came from outside the U.S.
375+ educational sessions
26 CEU hours available to participants
110+ exhibiting companies in the Exhibit Hall
So if you are interested in Assistive Technology, don't miss their annual conference! This was the second time I attended, and I added the Assistive Technology Boot Camp educational session before the conference. It was an absolutely wonderful experience! I will tell you more about it tomorrow and Thursday.
