Louis Braille, who was born on January 4, 1809, in Coupvray, France. He was blinded by an accident in his father's workshop when he was only three years old. His parents helped him to adjust to his blindness, and Louis was a very intelligent child. After learning of a French officer's code to help soldiers read in the dark, Louis invented his own code, which became Braille.
For more information about Louis Braille, there are many good resources. I will post more about resources in later posts, but to get started, Wikipedia as always has a great article. You can read that here.
If you had to invent a code for writing a language, what would you use? Let me know in the comments!
